My Home: Bedroom & Bathroom Updates

I am a terrible blogger lately! As my cousin Jim told me "don't quit your day job to blog" and lately my day job has been keeping me from house projects and blogging. I'm happy to be selling houses but of course I miss having time to update everyone.  I did manage to squeeze in a few small projects.  What I haven't had a chance to do is take any good photos, so I snapped a few on my cell phone today and figured I'd give you a little sneak peek on some progress.

As a follow up to my post about painting my bedroom grey, I did do it! And I love it! I used Behr paint & primer in 'Anonymous' but that was really dark grey, so I had them lighten it by 25%.  This photo makes it look lighter, but I'll get a photo with a more true color soon.   I love the color, it's perfectly real undertones that I can see in person.   I haven't added any yellow accents yet, which I wanted to do, but I think I like the light grey with the light blue and white.  I might add some additional color or maybe a new pattern (keep reading and you'll find out more about that below)....

I'm thinking about these curtains....but I'm not sold yet, so any suggestions are welcome!

I also want to get a storage chest with a bench for the base of the bed to store extra blankets and put all the throw pillows on/in.  Here's one I really like....

It would obviously need a comfy cushion for the top, which I can make easily using this tutorial.   I want to find a great fabric to cover the are some I like but I haven't decided on yet.

These fabrics are from Ballard Designs, which I love.  They have some great stuff and they mix modern with traditional with eclectic, and I think the looks they put together are really great.   The traditional one I know would work, but I want to do something a little different.  I love coral and blue and grey together, but I don't want it to overpower the room, which is why I'm leaning towards the fabric printed with old documents.  I like that it's different and fun without being too overpowering, and the colors are neutral so if I switch up the accent colors in the room everything will still go together.  I just don't know if I like it with the curtains....ahhh....see why I don't update things quickly?!  Decisions, decisions!  :)  And in the end, I'll probably pick the traditional one!

On another note....

One other project I worked on a bit this week is the master bathroom.  I'm only giving you a quick sneak peek because I still have a ways to go but this is what it looked like before....(ignore me and the other agent in the mirror).

Not a pretty sight.  Saying here is a lot of tile in an understatement.  The whole bathroom is covered in these little blue tiles.  The shower, the walls, the isn't even normal.

So far I have had the vanity removed, the shelving to the left removed, the medicine cabinet removed, the flooring changed and the tile in the shower reglazed. And the back wall, which you can see in the reflection in the mirror was also dark blue but I had that reglazed white as well.   The reglazing company, Talon Reglazing was awesome, highly recommend those guys!  The blue toilet is still one of my biggest challenges (who knew), so that's still there, but I'm determined to solve that issue asap.

Here's the "Progress" photo....bad photo from my phone, but you get the point ;)  and ignore the hamper of clothes, my toothbrush, etc.  Need to take some fancier photos this week.

In this photo the mirror is new from Home Depot (the Martha Stewart line but I can't find it to include a link), the lights are new, a new vanity, new flooring, I painted the walls and I still have a few more projects in there to do but it's almost done.  The wall color was a mix of a dark blue sample paint color that I mixed with a 1/2 gallon of left over white paint, and it created a pretty light blue color that I thought would be perfect....and I ended up liking the result! Soon I'll do my own paint line....kidding, kidding....a girl can dream, right?!

I will be back very soon with more updates and photos.  I'll bring out the real camera and take some nicer shots. I'll try not to take so long between posts!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
